Well I got a surprise when I was shopping for groceries tonight at Meijers! There was a whole end cap display of American Girl books! The top three shelves were the advice books, and a few of the craft kits. The next shelf was Meet Felicity, Very Funny Elizabeth, Meet Samantha and Nellie's Promise, along with the paperdolls for Felicity and Samantha. The final shelf was the mystery books, I know for sure Felicity, Kit, Molly, Josefina, Kaya and Samantha's Sapphire mystery were there, though I'm not sure about the first one about the Manor.
What does everyone think of this? I say anything that gives girls good wholesome reading material, good advice and fun craft projects is a good thing. Though I must admit I was disappointed that the mysteries were $6.95! The price of paperbacks has just gone up so much that I rarely ever buy new books anymore. Someday when I'm a published author with paperbacks out there I guess I'll have to start complaining about it!

I love finding AG stuff in random places But I wouldn't expect them to be at Meijers! Ah, well, the more AG the better!! lol. And I agree that the books have gotten a little expensive, but at least they publish them in paperback at the beginning - don't you hate when a book only comes out in hardback and you don't want to pay $20 for it and have to wait 6 months for paperback??

I got most of my AG books from BJ's.
The price is in half comparable to AG site or AG store. They had also Felicity's DVD.

OT, we don't have any Meijers out here, but I LOVE to go there when I go back East!
On-topic, it's great that the books are there, though I want to see Kirsten. And I always thought the AG books were expensive. All my Kirsten books were $5.95 and they're first-edition, so they must've cost that in 1986. I know they're on nice paper, but regular paperbacks were about $4 back then (maybe $3.50 if they were small). Factor in inflation (never mind that I can't find it online at the moment ;P ), and the current price for the mysteries isn't out-of-whack from what should be expected. (I DO think books cost a ton of money, though; that's why I don't usually buy them. I don't think the authors get all that much money from the purchase price, either. )
